A cute little museum with lots of animals. Gives a good insight into the history of Bede and the Monastery nearby. Highly recommended for both kids and adults alike. You do need to buy a season pass (valid from Feb-Dec) which gives unlimited entry. Also some cute working cats onsite.

Superb for school groups to go and visit and find out more about the Anglo - Saxons Plenty of resources, artefacts, displays and an amazing farm to show what life was like. They also run workshops for pupils in various aspects, definitely a great day out Suitable for all abilities and families Large hard standing car park which is free, plenty of facilities including a cafe, toilets and a shop.

A very pleasant walk on Father’s Day. Concessions for us oldies and tickets that last all season. The walk around the animals and Iron Age settlement are interesting, as is the inside museum about Bede and the monastery. There are inside and outside activities for young children. There was a bit of a wait for cooked food in the cafe but plenty of space outside to eat it. If you want to be a bit more refined and eat inside, then it’s better to book with the cafe. Set aside a morning or afternoon. You can easily spend several hours wandering.

A fascinating, peaceful and informative place to visit - with a museum and a farm that can make both adults and children happy. There is a larger car park on the opposite side of the road. Parking is free of charge. I spent a bit of time looking for the entrance for my first visit. The staff there were all friendly and helpful. The ticket is a season pass. We pay once and can visit again until December. I would suggest spending around 1.5 hours there for the best experience.

A lovely and diverse museum with beautiful historal reconstructions of Saxon buildings, celtic cows and other adorable animals. Second time visiting, staff were just as friendly and informative as the first visit. Great day out for a family with a lot to see. Sadly missed the battle reenactment event!
